An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Ely, Cambridgeshire, offering a salary of up to £70,000 FTE, flexible working options and no out-of-hours or overnight work.
This is a varied first-opinion role within a welcoming and collaborative practice, offering a steady caseload across routine consultations, surgery and occasional emergency or more unusual cases.
The position would suit a Veterinary Surgeon who enjoys working as part of a supportive team while maintaining the confidence to manage occasional sole-charge periods.

About the Practice
The practice is a purpose-built small animal veterinary practice in Ely, offering the welcoming atmosphere of an independent-style clinic alongside the resources, investment and career development opportunities associated with a larger veterinary organisation.
The close-knit team includes 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 3 Receptionists, creating a friendly environment where collaboration and mutual support are central to everyday working life.
The nursing team is highly experienced and plays an important role in supporting the Veterinary Surgeons, patients and clients.
The practice is well equipped with:
Digital X-ray
Dental X-ray
Ultrasound
Laser therapy
Rhinoscope
The caseload is predominantly cats and dogs, with occasional exotic patients including lizards and rats, providing additional variety for Veterinary Surgeons with an interest in different species.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care
Conduct routine consultations and clinical assessments
Diagnose and manage a varied medical caseload
Perform routine surgical procedures
Manage occasional emergency and unusual cases
Work collaboratively with RVNs and the wider practice team
Communicate effectively with clients and provide excellent client care
Manage occasional sole-charge periods confidently
Utilise diagnostic equipment appropriately
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care
Contribute positively to the supportive team environment
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who is confident working within a first-opinion small animal practice.
They should be comfortable managing a varied caseload, including routine consultations and surgery, while being able to respond appropriately to occasional emergency or unusual cases.
Experience of working in sole charge would be beneficial, as the successful candidate should be comfortable taking responsibility when required.
Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to patient and client care are essential.
