About the Practice
The practice is an established small animal veterinary practice in Edinburgh, supported by a friendly, collaborative team with extensive combined veterinary experience.
The veterinary team has strengths across surgery, dentistry and diagnostic imaging, while the experienced RVNs play an active role in clinical care, including dentistry.
The practice prioritises giving Veterinary Surgeons sufficient time to manage cases properly. 25-minute consultations, protected diary gaps and sensible diary management provide dedicated time for telephone calls, case management and clinical administration.
Leadership is accessible and hands-on, with regular weekly Veterinary Surgeon meetings and digital tools supporting case discussions and day-to-day communication.
With a major expansion planned for 2027, the practice is looking for someone who wants to help build and improve services rather than simply maintain the status quo.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality clinical care across a varied small animal caseload
Conduct consultations within a 25-minute appointment structure
Diagnose and manage medical and surgical cases
Work collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons and RVNs
Contribute to clinical discussions and case reviews
Develop individual clinical interests and areas of expertise
Identify opportunities to improve services, systems and clinical workflows
Contribute ideas towards the practice's ongoing expansion
Build strong relationships with clients and their pets
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and professional care
Work effectively within established practice systems and protocols
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a solid all-round Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical and communication skills.
They should be friendly, mature and collaborative, with the confidence to take initiative while working effectively within established systems.
The practice would particularly suit someone who enjoys being part of a team, contributing ideas and helping develop a growing veterinary service.
Additional clinical interests or skills that could help broaden the practice's services would be highly advantageous.
Previous experience is important, but attitude and mindset are equally valued. The successful candidate will ideally be someone who sees an expanding practice and is excited by the opportunity to help shape its next chapter.

Working Pattern
The role operates on a predictable three-week rolling rota designed to provide a healthy balance between longer working days and full days away from work.
Week 1: 3 long days, 8:30am–7:30pm, plus weekend
Saturday:9:00am–6:00pm
Sunday:10:00am–4:00pm
Week 2: 3 long weekdays, 8:30am–7:30pm
Week 3: 4 long weekdays, 8:30am–7:30pm
The clinic closes at 7:00pm on weekdays, allowing protected time for vets to complete clinical administration and catch-up before leaving.
