About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Gosport, Hampshire, offering a salary of £40,000–£60,000 depending on experience.
This is an ideal opportunity for a personable and skilled GP vet seeking a supportive team, flexible working and an excellent coastal location.
The position is ideally full-time over 4 days, with 1 in 4 Saturday mornings from 9:00am–12:00pm and no out-of-hours. Flexible working arrangements can also be considered for the right candidate.
The practice prioritises a well-structured working day, with 15-minute consultations, protected administration time and an hour's lunch break.
About the Practice
The practice is a spacious, standalone small animal surgery serving the local Gosport community.
The experienced clinical team includes Veterinary Surgeons with interests in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine and ophthalmology, providing a strong environment for clinical learning and collaboration.
The Veterinary Surgeons are supported by 11 experienced nurses, who are encouraged to utilise their skills fully, including through nurse clinics, alongside a dedicated reception and client-care team.

Four consulting rooms
Separate imaging room
Dedicated operating theatre
Separate isolation ward
Dedicated cat and dog wards
Team office and kitchen/colleague area
Comprehensive GP diagnostic and surgical equipment
The practice aims to keep as much work in-house as possible, offering a varied caseload and opportunities for Veterinary Surgeons to utilise and develop their individual clinical skills.
Regular clinical meetings, quarterly practice meetings and in-house learning sessions support ongoing development and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.
Conduct medical consultations and routine examinations.
Diagnose and manage medical cases appropriately.
Perform routine surgical procedures.
Develop comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans.
Provide high standards of patient and client care.
Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.
Work collaboratively with the experienced veterinary and nursing team.
Make full use of available clinical skills and equipment.
Contribute ideas to improve patient care and practice services.
Participate in clinical and practice meetings.
Continue professional development through CPD and further training.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 3 years' UK small animal practice experience and confidence across routine medical and surgical work.
They will ideally:
Hold RCVS registration or be eligible to register.
Have solid UK first-opinion small animal experience.
Be confident with routine surgical procedures.
Be comfortable managing a varied medical caseload.
Have strong consultation and client-care skills.
Communicate clearly and compassionately.
Enjoy developing long-term relationships with clients and patients.
Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Be open to new ideas and collaborative clinical decision-making.
Have an enthusiasm for ongoing learning and professional development.
