This permanent Veterinary Surgeon role offers a competitive salary depending on experience and is available at 25 hours per week across 3 days. There are no out-of-hours or on-call requirements, providing an excellent work-life balance.

The position can be tailored towards consultations and routine surgery or a more consultations and medicine-focused role, depending on your interests. A consultations-only option is also available.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care

  • Conduct consultations and manage a varied medical caseload

  • Perform routine surgical and dental procedures where appropriate

  • Carry out diagnostic investigations using advanced equipment

  • Develop appropriate treatment and care plans

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with clients

  • Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses, support colleagues, and specialist teams

  • Contribute to clinical standards and continuous improvement

  • Support colleagues and share knowledge within the wider team

  • Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong first opinion foundation, although applications from vets looking to develop new clinical skills are welcomed.

Applicants should have:

  • RCVS registration and experience in first opinion practice

  • Confidence managing medical cases and routine procedures

  • Strong communication and client care skills

  • A willingness to develop skills in areas such as ultrasound and endoscopy

  • A collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork

  • A commitment to ongoing CPD and professional development

  • The ability to manage cases independently while knowing when to seek additional support

The role can be shaped around your clinical interests, whether you prefer a consultations-only position, a combination of consultations and surgery, or a more medicine-focused caseload.
