About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, offering a salary of £40,000–£60,000 FTE depending on experience.
The role offers 40 hours per week across 3.5 days, with part-time hours also considered, providing a strong balance between clinical development and personal flexibility.
The position includes 1 in 3 Saturdays from 9:00am–4:00pm, minimal sole-charge work and no out-of-hours requirements. It would suit a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 18 months' experience who is confident across medical and surgical cases and enjoys working collaboratively.
About the Practice
The practice is a bright, modern and purpose-built small animal veterinary surgery located on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border.
The experienced team includes 3 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 RVNs and 4 Client Care Advisors, supported by on-site clinical leadership. The environment is friendly, collaborative and focused on delivering excellent patient and client care.
The practice is equipped to a high clinical standard, with facilities including:

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care across a varied caseload.
Manage medical and surgical cases confidently.
Conduct consultations, diagnostics and treatment planning.
Perform routine surgical procedures appropriate to experience.
Provide continuity of care through treatment and follow-up.
Communicate effectively with clients and provide clear clinical advice.
Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and the wider practice team.
Utilise modern diagnostic and monitoring equipment effectively.
Maintain high standards of clinical care and patient welfare.
Participate in CPD and contribute to the ongoing development of the practice.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a Veterinary Surgeon with at least 18 months' experience who is confident managing a varied small animal caseload.
They should have sound medical and surgical skills and enjoy working as part of a supportive, collaborative team.
The successful candidate will ideally:
Hold RCVS registration or be eligible to register.
Have a minimum of 18 months' veterinary experience.
Be confident with general medical and surgical cases.
Have strong communication and client-care skills.
Be comfortable working with minimal sole charge.
Be proactive, approachable and team-focused.
Be keen to continue developing clinically.
Have a genuine commitment to excellent patient care.
