About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon in Maidenhead, Berkshire, to join a supportive veterinary hospital offering excellent clinical exposure, flexible working options, and strong professional development.

This permanent Veterinary Surgeon position offers a salary of up to £60,000 FTE depending on experience, with both full-time and part-time opportunities available.

Full-time Veterinary Surgeons will work 40 hours across 4 days, including 1 in 7 weekend days. Part-time opportunities are available at 12 or 22 hours per week, primarily covering weekend shifts.

The role is suitable for both experienced and developing Veterinary Surgeons, with a supportive team and experienced colleagues available to help you build confidence and broaden your clinical skills.

This established veterinary hospital has a dedicated team of Veterinary Surgeons, Nurses, Patient Care Assistants, and Receptionists who work collaboratively to provide high-quality patient care.

As a 24-hour veterinary hospital, the practice is able to provide continuity of care for inpatients without routinely transferring them elsewhere.

The hospital offers extensive facilities and a varied caseload, making it an excellent environment for Veterinary Surgeons who enjoy staying busy and developing their clinical knowledge.

The existing team has particular interests and additional qualifications in emergency and critical care, cardiology, medicine, and ophthalmology, providing valuable opportunities for knowledge sharing and professional development.

The practice is conveniently located for Veterinary Surgeons commuting from Maidenhead, Henley, Slough, Oxford, Reading, and Guildford.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality veterinary care across a varied hospital caseload

  • Manage medical and surgical cases

  • Conduct consultations and diagnostic investigations

  • Develop appropriate treatment plans

  • Provide inpatient care and monitoring

  • Work collaboratively with experienced Veterinary Surgeons and nursing colleagues

  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding treatment and patient care

  • Maintain accurate clinical records and professional standards

  • Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment

  • Continue developing clinical skills through CPD and hands-on experience

Candidate Profile

This role would suit either an experienced Veterinary Surgeon or a more junior clinician looking for a supportive environment in which to develop.

You should have:

  • RCVS registration

  • A genuine passion for delivering excellent patient care

  • Confidence managing medical and surgical cases, or a willingness to develop these skills

  • Strong communication and client care abilities

  • A collaborative, team-focused approach

  • A commitment to continued professional development

  • The ability to learn from experienced colleagues and respond positively to feedback

Experienced Veterinary Surgeons will have the opportunity to utilise their existing expertise and develop areas of clinical interest, while less experienced candidates will benefit from structured support and mentoring.
