This is a full-time, permanent position working 40 hours per week, offering a salary of £58,000 - £66,000 including allowances.

About the Practice
The hospital provides a diverse small animal caseload within a collaborative clinical environment where case discussion, knowledge-sharing and professional development are actively encouraged.
Veterinary Surgeons can gain significant surgical exposure, with procedures potentially including pyometra surgery, cystotomies, enterotomies, enucleations, caesarean sections, cruciate repairs, femoral head and neck excisions, hip reductions, fracture management and surgical dentistry.
There is also a structured pathway towards developing advanced capabilities in soft tissue surgery, orthopaedics, ophthalmic surgery and complex reconstructive procedures, subject to local caseload, facilities and clinical experience.
Modern hospital facilities include separate dog and cat kennelling, in-house radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, piped gases and extensive orthopaedic equipment.
The hospital supports clients through different models of accessible veterinary care, creating a broad and rewarding caseload while maintaining a pragmatic, welfare-focused approach to clinical decision-making.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality medical and surgical care to small animal patients
Managing a varied mix of consultations and surgical cases
Performing routine soft tissue procedures
Developing experience with more complex surgical cases
Undertaking dental procedures, including surgical extractions where appropriate
Supporting orthopaedic procedures according to experience and competence
Managing emergency and complex surgical presentations
Conducting diagnostic investigations and developing appropriate treatment plans
Making pragmatic, evidence-based and welfare-focused clinical decisions
Communicating treatment options clearly and compassionately with clients
Working confidently within a busy clinical environment
Collaborating with veterinary surgeons, nurses and support colleagues
Participating in case discussions and shared learning
Engaging with structured clinical and surgical development opportunities
Maintaining accurate clinical records and professional standards
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified, MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in developing their medical and surgical capabilities.
They should enjoy a varied role combining consultations with hands-on surgery and be comfortable managing a diverse small animal caseload.
Candidates should demonstrate a pragmatic and welfare-focused approach to clinical decision-making, alongside the confidence to work effectively within a fast-paced clinical environment.
Strong client communication skills and computer literacy are also required.
Approximately 12 months' UK small animal practice experience would be advantageous, although overall clinical experience and capability will also be considered.
Applications are also welcomed from eligible international Veterinary Surgeons requiring Certificate of Sponsorship support, with relocation assistance available for candidates moving to the area.
