About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon in Northumberland, with flexibility to work from one of several practices across Alnwick, Morpeth, Ponteland, Rothbury or Wooler.
The role offers a competitive salary, 40-hour full-time rota and flexible part-time options. A relocation allowance is available for candidates moving to the area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a GP Veterinary Surgeon who wants to develop their clinical expertise while having the opportunity to progress towards future clinical leadership. There is also scope to explore particular interests, including orthopaedics or certificate-level development.
About the Practice
The wider veterinary team is supported by an RCVS-accredited small animal hospital, providing 24-hour staffing for hospitalised patients and out-of-hours care.
The team delivers a broad range of first opinion veterinary services, including preventative care, medical cases and surgery, alongside access to specialist expertise.
Clinical support includes diagnostic imaging, dermatology, referral dentistry, emergency and critical care, and internal medicine, with certificate holders and visiting specialists contributing to the wider service.
The practices place a strong emphasis on CPD and career progression, with certificates encouraged and funded. Veterinary Surgeons are supported in developing their careers according to their individual interests and ambitions.
The region also offers an excellent lifestyle, with easy access to Northumberland's coastline and countryside, as well as convenient links to Newcastle and Edinburgh.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality GP small animal veterinary care across a varied caseload.
Manage medical and surgical cases according to experience and clinical interests.
Conduct thorough clinical examinations and appropriate diagnostic investigations.
Develop effective treatment plans and provide ongoing patient care.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, nurses and the wider support team.
Make use of specialist advice and referral services where appropriate.
Contribute to case discussions and knowledge sharing.
Support the development of colleagues through mentoring and teamwork.
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of clinical standards.
Explore opportunities to progress towards clinical leadership where desired.
Develop specialist interests, including potential progression in areas such as orthopaedics.
