About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join an established, close-knit team in Northampton.
Salary: £45,000–£65,000 DOE
Hours: 25–40 hours per week
Weekend rota: 1 in 3 Saturdays
Out-of-hours: None
Relocation/Welcome Bonus: £5,000

About the Practice
The practice is a friendly, established small animal service in Northampton, built around a simple ethos: kindness matters to patients, clients and colleagues.
Following the loss of its previous premises, the established team has remained united and committed to maintaining a calm, supportive environment where everyone has a voice and patient welfare remains the priority.
The new practice is located in Sixfields, Northampton, providing modern facilities and equipment in a convenient location between Junction 15a and Junction 16 of the M1. Northampton railway station is approximately 1.5 miles away, with Luton Airport accessible in under an hour.
The experienced team includes Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Student Veterinary Nurse, Veterinary Care Assistant, Practice Manager and Reception team, providing strong clinical and operational support.
The practice places particular emphasis on mutual respect, teamwork and colleague wellbeing, creating an environment where support is readily available when needed.
Responsibilities
Provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to small animal patients.
Conduct routine consultations and diagnose and manage a varied caseload.
Undertake routine surgical procedures where appropriate.
Manage an individual caseload with support available whenever required.
Work confidently when sole charge where necessary.
Build strong, lasting relationships with clients.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with pet owners.
Work collaboratively with the nursing and support teams.
Share knowledge and experience with colleagues.
Contribute to a positive and respectful team culture.
Maintain high standards of animal welfare and clinical care.
Develop preferred clinical interests through CPD and further training.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon who is confident with routine consultations and surgery.
Experience working in a sole-charge environment would be advantageous, although the practice will also consider candidates who prefer a consulting-only role.
They are looking for someone who is kind, approachable and an excellent communicator, with a genuine passion for animal welfare and client care.
The successful candidate should value teamwork, collaboration and mutual respect, while also being comfortable managing their own caseload and working independently.
