An exciting opportunity is available for a GP Veterinary Surgeon to join an established first-opinion small animal practice in Rotherham, South Yorkshire.
The position offers up to £63,000 per annum depending on experience, with flexibility to work 25–40 hours per week. Rota patterns can be tailored to suit the successful candidate, supporting an excellent work-life balance.
A consultations-only Veterinary Surgeon position can also be considered, making this an attractive opportunity for clinicians looking to shape their role around their preferred area of practice.
About the Practice
The practice has a strong reputation within the local community and a genuine family feel, with many clients having been with the practice for more than 20 years.
You will join a close-knit clinical team currently comprising four Veterinary Surgeons, alongside experienced RVNs, SVNs, PCAs and Receptionists.
The practice is well equipped to support a varied first-opinion caseload, with facilities including digital X-ray, ultrasound, dental radiography and a dedicated dental area.
An up-to-date in-house laboratory provides capabilities for biochemistry, haematology, urinalysis and in-house cytology, allowing clinicians to investigate and manage a broad range of cases efficiently.
The management team actively supports individual clinical interests and professional development, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to develop their own areas of focus while working within a friendly and experienced team.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care to small animal patients.
Conduct consultations, clinical examinations and diagnostic investigations.
Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload.
Perform routine surgical procedures where appropriate to experience.
Utilise in-house diagnostic facilities effectively.
Develop appropriate treatment and preventative healthcare plans.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.
Build strong, long-lasting client relationships.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider support team.
Participate in clinical discussions and shared decision-making.
Develop specific clinical interests and areas of expertise.
Support colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing where appropriate.
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with experience in small animal practice.
This role would suit a GP Veterinary Surgeon looking for a varied caseload, although candidates seeking a consultations-only position are also encouraged to apply.
