The Opportunity
A growing independent veterinary practice on the coast is looking for a GP Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly first-opinion team. This is a great opportunity for a true generalist who enjoys building long-term relationships with clients and patients, while working in a supportive environment with no out-of-hours and a genuine focus on work-life balance.
The Role
This is a small animal GP role based at a village clinic in Rottingdean, covering first-opinion work for cats, dogs and small furries. The position offers a good balance of consultations and a small number of operations each day.
The successful vet will take sole charge of the clinic and help maintain its strong reputation for excellent customer service and kind, high-quality veterinary care. The role would suit a Veterinary Surgeon with around 2–3 years’ experience, although the advert states a minimum of one year’s veterinary experience is required.
Strong communication skills are important, alongside confidence in consultations and routine and non-routine surgical and dental procedures. RCVS registration, UK work authorisation, and the ability to reliably commute or relocate to the Brighton and Hove area are required.
The Practice
The clinic has one consulting room, an operating theatre and a small hospital area. Facilities include digital radiography, digital dental radiography, ultrasound, an in-house laboratory, Vetscan Imagyst, microscopy, operating lights, dental drill, height-adjustable tables, oxygen generators and air conditioning.
The team includes two other part-time vets, two RVNs and a team of receptionists. This is a privately owned independent practice with a strong local reputation, long-standing team members and a supportive, patient-focused culture. The practice encourages clinical autonomy, continuity of care and a “one pet, one vet” approach, allowing vets to build strong relationships with clients and patients without target-led pressure.
