About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for a confident and compassionate Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join a supportive first-opinion practice in Sittingbourne, Kent.
This is a flexible opportunity with full-time and part-time hours available, including the potential for school-hours working. There is no out-of-hours requirement, with a 1 in 3 Saturday rota from 9:00am–6:00pm.
The role offers a salary of up to £65,000 FTE, dependent on experience, alongside generous CPD support, professional memberships and a strong commitment to work-life balance.

About the Practice
The practice is an established small animal veterinary practice with more than eight years of experience and a loyal, growing client base.
The team is built around a culture of kindness, respect, collaboration and clinical excellence, with a strong emphasis on ensuring both clients and colleagues feel valued and supported.
The practice team includes three experienced Veterinary Surgeons, five RVNs, a Veterinary Care Assistant and four receptionists, creating a well-supported environment where colleagues can share knowledge and work together effectively.
The practice is a Practice Standards Scheme member and has received recognition for its commitment to client service.
Clinical facilities include:
Digital X-ray
In-house laboratory
Ultrasound
Dental X-ray facilities
Varied surgical caseload
Orthopaedic cases
The team is also committed to supporting Veterinary Surgeons who want to develop particular clinical interests or specialisms.
Responsibilities
As a Veterinary Surgeon, responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality first-opinion veterinary care
Conducting routine medical consultations and work-ups
Performing routine surgical procedures
Managing a varied small animal caseload
Supporting the diagnosis and treatment of more complex cases
Developing clinical interests and areas of specialism
Building strong relationships with clients and their pets
Maintaining high standards of patient welfare
Working collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider team
Contributing to a positive and supportive practice culture
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Have at least 2 years' experience in small animal practice
Be confident with routine surgery and medical work-ups
Be approachable, compassionate and an excellent communicator
Have a genuine commitment to animal welfare
Demonstrate high clinical standards
Be comfortable working in a busy first-opinion environment
Remain calm and adaptable when workloads increase
Enjoy learning and collaborating with colleagues
Be enthusiastic about developing their own clinical interests
