About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join a busy and growing small animal team in Stockton-on-Tees.
The position offers an excellent salary of £40,000–£65,000 per annum DOE, with a four-day working week and the option for a part-time, three-day-week arrangement.
Full-time hours are 8:30am–7:00pm across four days, with just 1 in 5 Saturday mornings from 8:30am–1:00pm and no out-of-hours requirements.
The working day provides a balanced mix of consultations and theatre, with 15-minute consultations and protected daily administration time. Benefits include £1,000 CPD funding, certificate support, private medical insurance and Fear Free training and accreditation.

About the Practice
The practice operates from a busy, purpose-built small animal clinic and offers a modern, collaborative environment focused on delivering high-quality, accessible veterinary care.
Veterinary Surgeons work alongside an established clinical and support team, including multiple Vets, five RVNs, two Veterinary Care Assistants and four front-of-house Care Coordinators.
The practice takes a Fear Free-centred approach to veterinary medicine, with patient welfare and reducing stress during veterinary visits forming an important part of its clinical philosophy.
Veterinary Surgeons benefit from a structured working day combining consulting and theatre sessions. 15-minute consultations and protected administration time are built into the schedule to support effective case management.
Professional development is strongly encouraged, with opportunities to pursue certificates and develop individual clinical interests.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality small animal veterinary care
Managing a varied caseload across consultations and surgery
Conducting 15-minute consultations
Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
Performing surgical procedures appropriate to experience and competence
Providing compassionate, patient-centred veterinary care
Applying Fear Free principles within clinical practice
Communicating clearly and professionally with pet owners
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Working collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and support colleagues
Contributing to continued improvements in clinical standards
Participating in the 1 in 5 Saturday morning rota
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified, MRCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for high-quality patient and client care.
They should enjoy working across both consultations and surgery and be comfortable managing a varied small animal caseload within a busy clinical environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are important, alongside an enthusiasm for patient-centred veterinary medicine.
The position could suit candidates at different stages of their veterinary careers, with a salary range of £40,000–£65,000 depending on experience and support available for further clinical development.
