An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Stow-on-the-Wold, offering exceptional flexibility alongside a varied first opinion small animal caseload.

The role is particularly suited to a Veterinary Surgeon with 3+ years' experience who wants to maintain a strong work-life balance while continuing to develop their clinical skills.

A range of working patterns can be considered, including one or two days per week, mornings only, a three-day week or Saturday-only working. Full-time colleagues typically work four days per week, with an equally shared weekend and on-call rota.

The role covers primary care, inpatient care, medical work-ups and surgery, with support available for Veterinary Surgeons interested in pursuing further qualifications or certificates.

This established small animal veterinary practice in Stow-on-the-Wold has served the local community for more than 200 years and has a modern, purpose-built facility supported by a passionate team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, PCAs and reception colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care to small animal patients.

  • Conduct routine consultations and primary care appointments.

  • Manage inpatient cases and provide appropriate ongoing care.

  • Perform medical work-ups and diagnostic investigations.

  • Undertake surgical procedures appropriate to experience.

  • Build positive and trusted relationships with clients.

  • Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and the wider practice team.

  • Participate in the shared weekend and on-call rota where applicable.

  • Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

  • Contribute to clinical discussions, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, preferably with at least three years' clinical experience.

They will ideally demonstrate:

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills.

  • Confidence managing medical and surgical cases.

  • The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with colleagues.

  • A genuine commitment to high-quality patient care.

  • Excellent communication and client-care skills.
