About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, offering excellent clinical support, certificate development and a strong focus on work-life balance.
The role offers a salary of up to £60,000, dependent on experience, with 35–40 hours per week, a fixed regular day off, 1 in 4 Saturdays and no OOH.

About the Practice
The practice is a thriving first-opinion small animal practice in Sutton-in-Ashfield, with a strong emphasis on clinical standards, teamwork and professional development.
The experienced team includes 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 RVNs, 4 Client Care Advisors and a Practice Manager. They also support Student Veterinary Nurses and veterinary students, creating a learning-focused environment for colleagues who enjoy mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Separate dog, cat and exotic wards
The practice is RCVS accredited, ISFM Silver Cat Friendly accredited and a RWAF Silver Plus rabbit-friendly practice, providing opportunities to work with a varied small animal caseload.
Sole charge is minimal, while additional clinical support is available for non-routine procedures. Vets with advanced qualifications are also welcomed, with enhanced remuneration available where appropriate.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first-opinion veterinary care.
Conduct thorough medical consultations and diagnostic work-ups.
Perform routine surgical procedures confidently.
Manage a varied small animal caseload.
Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
Build strong relationships with clients and their pets.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and support colleagues.
Contribute to mentoring and the practice's teaching environment where appropriate.
Maintain accurate clinical records and high standards of patient welfare.
Participate in clinical discussions and continuous improvement.
Develop individual areas of interest through CPD and certificate study.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a confident Veterinary Surgeon with experience in first-opinion practice, particularly someone comfortable with routine consultations and surgery.
They should have:
Strong general medical and surgical skills.
Confidence managing a varied caseload.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine commitment to patient welfare and high-quality care.
A collaborative approach to working with colleagues.
The ability to work independently when required.
Enthusiasm for professional development and further qualifications.
