About the Role
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Tilehurst, Reading, joining a modern first opinion small animal practice with a supportive team and a strong focus on clinical development.
This permanent Veterinary Surgeon position offers a salary of up to £65,000 FTE depending on experience, with full-time and part-time options available.
Full-time Veterinary Surgeons can work a 4 or 5-day week, with a 1 in 5 Saturday rota and no out-of-hours commitment. Flexible part-time arrangements can also be considered.
The role would particularly suit an experienced Small Animal Vet with 2+ years' experience, strong medical knowledge, and confidence managing routine and emergency surgical cases.

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first opinion small animal veterinary care
Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload
Conduct primary care consultations
Provide inpatient care and patient monitoring
Undertake comprehensive medical work-ups
Perform routine and emergency surgical procedures
Carry out diagnostic investigations and develop appropriate treatment plans
Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnosis and treatment
Build strong, lasting client relationships
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider practice team
Contribute to clinical development and continuous improvement
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years' experience, although applications from suitable candidates with different levels of experience may be considered.
You should have:
RCVS registration
Strong medical knowledge and clinical decision-making skills
Experience managing routine and emergency surgical cases
Confidence with diagnostic investigations and medical work-ups
Excellent communication and client service skills
A genuine passion for delivering outstanding patient care
A collaborative and supportive approach to teamwork
The ability to work with clinical autonomy and manage a varied caseload
A commitment to continued professional development
