Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 (dependent on experience)
Schedule: Full-time, 4-day week
Weekend rota: 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9am–12pm)
No out-of-hours duties
About the Practice
This is a well-established, independently run small animal practice with a strong community presence and excellent client retention. The clinic benefits from the support of a wider veterinary group while maintaining full clinical autonomy and a genuinely personal, close-knit team culture.
The practice handles a wide and varied caseload, including orthopaedics, advanced soft tissue surgery, emergency procedures, and exotics. They are also able to accept referrals from local practices, creating excellent exposure to more complex and interesting cases.
Facilities are modern and well-equipped, including dental radiography, ultrasound, advanced orthopaedic equipment, BOAS surgery instrumentation, multiparameter monitoring, and access to visiting orthopaedic specialists for in-house advanced procedures.
The nursing and support team are highly experienced and provide exceptional day-to-day support, mentorship, and collaboration. This is a practice where clinical discussion, shared learning, and professional development are genuinely prioritised.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality first opinion veterinary care across consultations and surgery
Perform routine surgical procedures confidently
Manage a varied caseload including medical and surgical cases
Provide occasional sole charge when required
Work closely with the wider clinical and nursing team on case management
Maintain excellent clinical standards and accurate patient records
Develop clinical interests through CPD and certificate opportunities
Contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative team culture
Candidate Profile
Qualified Veterinary Surgeon registered with the RCVS
Previous small animal GP experience
Confident with consultations and routine surgery
Comfortable with occasional sole charge responsibilities
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Interest in medicine, imaging, cardiology, or exotics would be highly welcomed
Motivated to continue developing clinically with long-term career progression in mind
