About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Veterinary Surgeon in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, joining an established 24/7 small animal team providing high-quality emergency and out-of-hours care.
This role offers the opportunity to manage a varied emergency caseload, while developing medical and surgical expertise within a supportive and experienced clinical environment.
The position is available on a part-time or full-time basis, with flexibility around the rota. Options include a consistent week-on/week-off twilight rota or a hybrid combination of night and twilight shifts.
About the Practice
This established 24/7 small animal veterinary practice in Trowbridge has a passionate team of Veterinary Surgeons, Registered Veterinary Nurses, Patient Care Assistants and reception colleagues working collaboratively to provide excellent patient care.
The practice is well equipped with:
Digital X-ray
Ultrasound
Endoscopy
EPOC
In-house laboratory facilities
Blood products
The wider clinical team includes Advanced Practitioners in Emergency and Critical Care, alongside experienced clinicians with further qualifications in areas including small animal medicine and surgery.
The out-of-hours service has been established since 2018, providing emergency support to veterinary practices across Wiltshire.
Trowbridge is a historic market town in Wiltshire, offering direct rail connections to London and convenient access to Bath, the Cotswolds and Stonehenge.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality emergency and out-of-hours veterinary care.
Assess, stabilise and manage emergency and critical patients.
Manage a varied caseload across medical and surgical emergencies.
Perform appropriate diagnostic investigations and procedures.
Take clinical responsibility for cases and make evidence-based decisions.
Communicate effectively with clients during emergency situations.
Work closely with Veterinary Nurses and the wider clinical team.
Contribute to a supportive culture of knowledge sharing and clinical development.
Maintain high standards of patient welfare, clinical governance and professional practice.
Candidate Profile
The ideal Veterinary Surgeon in Trowbridge will be confident managing emergency cases and motivated to continue developing their clinical expertise.
They will ideally have:
A recognised veterinary qualification and eligibility to practise in the UK.
Confidence managing medical and surgical cases.
Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
An interest in emergency and critical care.
The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy emergency environment.
Excellent communication and client-care skills.
A collaborative approach to working with the wider veterinary team.
A commitment to continuing professional development.
Experienced Veterinary Surgeons will be able to demonstrate a high degree of clinical autonomy and may enjoy supporting less experienced colleagues through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
