About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join its friendly and established small animal team in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset.
This is a permanent, part-time position with flexible working available, offering a salary of £40,000–£65,000 FTE depending on experience.
The rota includes just 1 in 3 Saturdays on a sole-charge basis, with no Sundays and no out-of-hours requirements, providing an excellent balance between work and home life.
The position offers a varied first-opinion caseload covering cats, dogs, rabbits and small furries, making it well suited to an experienced clinician with broad general practice skills.

About the Practice
The practice is a well-established and busy small animal clinic with an experienced veterinary, nursing and support team.
A collaborative working environment is encouraged, with regular practice and clinical meetings providing opportunities to discuss cases, share knowledge and contribute ideas.
The practice is equipped to a high standard and includes three consultation rooms, alongside dedicated colleague facilities and separate office space.
Located in the coastal town of Weston-super-Mare, the practice benefits from excellent transport connections. It is situated close to the M5, approximately five minutes' walk from the railway station and within convenient travelling distance of Bristol.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality first-opinion consultations
Managing a varied small animal caseload
Providing medical and preventative healthcare
Performing routine surgical procedures
Treating cats, dogs, rabbits and other small pets
Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
Undertaking sole-charge Saturday shifts as part of the rota
Building strong relationships with clients and their pets
Communicating clearly and compassionately with pet owners
Working collaboratively with veterinary, nursing and support colleagues
Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
Participating in clinical and practice meetings
Maintaining high standards of clinical governance and patient welfare
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeon with previous small animal general practice experience.
You should have broad GP skills and be confident across routine small animal medicine and surgery, including managing a varied first-opinion caseload.
As the Saturday rota involves sole-charge working, you should be comfortable making independent clinical decisions when required.
Excellent communication and client care skills are essential, alongside a collaborative approach and enthusiasm for working as part of an experienced team.
