About the Role
A fantastic opportunity is available for a part-time Veterinary Surgeon in Winnersh, Berkshire, within a well-established small animal practice known for its collaborative team culture, low colleague turnover and varied caseload.
This permanent position offers up to £60,000 FTE, depending on experience, with a structured working day designed to support high-quality clinical care alongside a healthy work-life balance.
The role is 2 days per week, typically 8:30am–7:00pm, ideally Wednesday and Friday, although the days can be flexible. The rota also includes 1 in 4 Saturdays, 8:00am–5:00pm.

About the Practice
The practice is a purpose-built small animal facility in Winnersh, recently extended to provide additional colleague space and dedicated office facilities.
The practice has four consultation rooms, including dedicated X-ray and dental X-ray facilities, alongside a large preparation area, operating theatre and separate cat and dog wards.
The longstanding team includes four Veterinary Surgeons, six Registered Veterinary Nurses, seven receptionists, an administrator and a Practice Manager, creating a well-supported environment with very low colleague turnover.
The caseload includes a strong mix of routine consultations and surgery, alongside additional clinical interests in internal medicine, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, rabbits and small furries.
The structured daily workflow typically includes three vets working each day, with designated consulting and operating roles. Consultations are generally allocated 15 minutes, with dedicated time for admissions, clinical notes, administration, catch-ups and lunch.
Regular practice meetings and vet meetings provide opportunities for communication, collaboration and ongoing development.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality small animal veterinary care across routine consultations and surgical cases.
Confidently manage a broad range of general practice medical and surgical cases.
Build strong, trusting relationships with clients and their pets.
Conduct consultations and routine clinical examinations.
Perform routine surgical procedures and provide appropriate post-operative care.
Manage patient admissions and ensure accurate clinical records.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses, reception and wider practice colleagues.
Contribute to a supportive and positive team culture.
Participate in the weekend rota and shared bank holiday and Christmas arrangements.
Continue developing clinical skills through the varied caseload and knowledge within the team.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with strong general practice skills and confidence across everyday small animal medicine and surgery.
They will be comfortable managing a varied caseload and should enjoy building lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
The successful candidate will be a friendly, adaptable and team-focused colleague who values collaboration and enjoys contributing to a supportive practice environment.
Vets with particular interests in areas such as internal medicine, ophthalmology, orthopaedics or exotic companion animals may find particularly strong opportunities to develop their interests, although a broad GP skill set is the primary requirement.
