This permanent first opinion Veterinary Surgeon role is ideal for a confident small animal vet who is comfortable performing routine surgical procedures and enjoys working with autonomy while having the support of an experienced clinical team.
The position offers a salary of up to £64,000 FTE DOE, alongside a flexible working approach. The ideal role is full-time at 40 hours per week across a 4-day working week, with flexibility available to suit the right candidate.
There are no weekend or out-of-hours (OOH) requirements, allowing for an excellent work-life balance.
About the Practice
This established small animal practice provides a supportive and collaborative environment where Veterinary Surgeons are encouraged to work with clinical independence while having access to guidance when required.
The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities, including:
Ultrasound
Digital X-ray
Laparoscopic spay equipment
Comprehensive diagnostic and surgical resources
Veterinary Surgeons benefit from dedicated consult time to investigate cases thoroughly and provide high-quality patient care.
The team typically includes at least two Veterinary Surgeons working each day, meaning sole charge is uncommon. However, candidates should feel comfortable providing sole charge support when required.
The practice encourages continued professional development, with opportunities to pursue certificates and further qualifications.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care to small animal patients
Carry out routine consultations, diagnostics, and surgical procedures
Develop tailored treatment plans and communicate effectively with clients
Work collaboratively with veterinary nurses and support colleagues
Maintain high clinical standards and patient-focused care
Manage cases with confidence while making use of available clinical support
Participate in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Be a qualified RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon
Have experience working within a small animal first opinion environment
Be confident performing routine surgical procedures
Demonstrate strong communication and client care skills
Enjoy working autonomously while contributing positively to a wider team
Be committed to ongoing clinical development
Both experienced Veterinary Surgeons and those looking to further develop their confidence are encouraged to apply.
