Why veterinarians choose Georgia

  • Lower cost of living than the Northeast or West Coast, particularly for housing

  • Atlanta is a major specialty and ER market — strong career path for board-certified specialists

  • Access to UGA's College of Veterinary Medicine and a strong CE network

  • Diverse caseload — small animal in metros, equine and mixed in north and middle Georgia

  • Mild winters, easy outdoor lifestyle, and a fast-growing population (lots of new pets)

  • Practice variety — from independent clinics to large corporate groups (Mars, NVA, BluePearl, VCA, Thrive)

Georgia licensing for veterinarians

To practice in Georgia you need to be licensed by the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine. The standard route is:

  • Graduate from an AVMA COE-accredited DVM/VMD program (foreign graduates need ECFVG or PAVE certification)

  • Pass the NAVLE (North American Veterinary Licensing Examination)

  • Pass the Georgia State Board Examination — covers state laws and rules

  • Renew biennially — Georgia requires 30 hours of continuing education per renewal cycle

If you're licensed in another state and considering relocation, we can advise on timing and walk you through the endorsement process.

How we work

For candidates:send your CV through our website or call our team. Your conversation is confidential — we won't put you forward for any role without your sign-off. We'll only present opportunities that match what you've told us about clinical interests, schedule, salary, and location.

For practices and hospitals:tell us about the role, the team, and the kind of person who'll thrive there. We handle sourcing, screening, and shortlisting so you only meet candidates worth your time.
