Responsibilities
Lead and uphold high standards of progressive veterinary medicine
Establish, oversee, and continuously improve medical protocols and quality of care
Provide hands-on clinical care, including exams, diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry
Mentor, coach, and support associate veterinarians
Promote teamwork and collaboration across all hospital departments
Partner with hospital leadership on budgeting, inventory planning, and equipment investments
Monitor key performance indicators and contribute to the financial health of the practice
Ensure compliance with state regulations, OSHA, and AAHA standards
Review medical records to promote accuracy and medical excellence
Manage controlled substances and approve medical supply alternatives
Address client concerns, patient care issues, and professional complaints
Lead doctor meetings and participate in recruiting and interviewing veterinarians
Identify opportunities to expand or enhance clinical services
Candidate Profile
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution
Active or eligible Alabama veterinary license
DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
3–5+ years of clinical veterinary experience
Demonstrated leadership or strong interest in medical management
Excellent diagnostic, surgical, and dental skills
Strong communication, mentorship, and interpersonal abilities
High ethical standards and commitment to exceptional patient care
Ability to balance clinical responsibilities with leadership and operational oversight
Compensation & Benefits
Salary ranging from $160,000 to $195,000 depending on role
Sign-on, retention, and relocation packages up to $75,000
