A full-service small animal veterinary practice in East Asheville, North Carolina is seeking a dedicated Associate Veterinarian to join a collaborative and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for veterinarians of all experience levels, including recent graduates, to practice high-quality medicine while receiving mentorship from experienced colleagues.

The successful candidate will provide compassionate care to patients, communicate effectively with clients, and work alongside a skilled team of veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to maintain efficient and productive operations.

This two-doctor, full-service small animal practice specializes in urgent care, wellness, sick visits, and surgical services including puppy spay and kitten neuter procedures. The hospital operates in a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility with advanced diagnostic equipment to support high-quality patient care.

The practice is committed to providing a supportive, team-oriented environment where veterinarians can grow their skills, engage in mentorship opportunities, and make a meaningful impact in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and manage disease or injuries

  • Operate diagnostic equipment, collect samples, and interpret results

  • Advise clients on preventive care and treatment options

  • Perform surgeries and prescribe medications as required

  • Provide counseling around end-of-life care

  • Maintain accurate patient medical records

  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics, state regulations, and practice policies

Candidate Profile

  • DVM or VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in North Carolina

  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD certification

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional and courteous demeanor with clients and staff

  • Ability to lift patients and equipment up to 25 pounds independently, and over 25 pounds with assistance

  • Collaborative, motivated, and eager to learn in a team environment
