Responsibilities

  • Examine, diagnose, and treat small animal patients (dogs and cats), with occasional exposure to exotics

  • Develop and communicate treatment plans with empathy and clarity

  • Perform soft-tissue surgery and dentistry

  • Interpret diagnostics including in-house lab work, digital radiography, and ultrasound

  • Prescribe medications and recommend preventative care plans

  • Maintain accurate, timely medical records

  • Provide compassionate end-of-life counseling and support

  • Practice medicine in accordance with veterinary ethics and state regulations

Candidate Profile

  • DVM or VMD from an AVMA-accredited program

  • Eligible for or currently licensed to practice in Alabama

  • Eligible to obtain DEA and BNDD registration

  • Comfortable practicing general small animal medicine

  • Interested in developing skills in surgery and dentistry

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Collaborative, adaptable, and calm in a busy practice setting

  • Values teamwork and respects the role of technicians and support staff
