About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinarian to join a supportive, forward-thinking small animal practice. This role is ideal for experienced veterinarians or new graduates looking to practice high-quality medicine in a collaborative, balanced, and family-focused environment. Schedule is full-time or part-time, flexible to a 4-day work week (no weekends, no on-call).
You’ll enjoy a manageable caseload (~15 appointments/day), extended appointment times, and a team culture that prioritizes professional growth and work-life balance.
About the Practice
Join a modern, fully equipped small animal hospital in Hickory, NC, featuring:
7,000 sq. ft. facility with 6 exam rooms, a dedicated surgery suite, and a separate dental suite
Large treatment area, two wet tables, and in-house lab capabilities
Digital and dental radiology, Tonopen, Surgivets anesthesia monitors, AI scribe support, and more
Routine and soft tissue surgery, dental procedures, and comprehensive preventative care
Supportive team environment with a 2:1 technician-to-doctor ratio
The practice actively supports local animal welfare organizations, including Sydney’s Friends, Humane Society of Catawba County, and Happy Tails Rescue, reinforcing its commitment to the community.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care for small animals
Educate clients on preventative care and responsible pet ownership
Collaborate with skilled veterinary technicians and staff for high-quality patient care
Participate in mentorship and team-building initiatives
Maintain accurate medical records and provide exceptional client communication
Candidate Profile
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD from an accredited institution
Valid veterinary license in North Carolina
Passion for small animal medicine and client education
Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills
Open to mentorship (new graduates) or collaborative practice (experienced veterinarians)
Compensation & Benefits
Competitive salary (based on experience). Salary ranging from $140,000 to $160,000
