Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient exams, diagnostics, and medical work-ups
Provide surgical and dental care to small animal patients
Educate clients and clearly communicate treatment options and outcomes
Maintain complete and accurate medical records
Prescribe medications and manage controlled substances in compliance with regulations
Lead and uphold medical protocols and standards of care
Collaborate with hospital leadership on priorities, workflows, and performance goals
Monitor hospitalized cases and participate in daily rounds when possible
Promote teamwork, efficiency, and a positive hospital culture
Support medical training, mentorship, and continuing education initiatives
Candidate Profile
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution
Active or eligible Alabama veterinary license
DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
1+ years of clinical veterinary experience (leadership experience welcomed but not required)
Strong medical, surgical, and diagnostic skills
Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities
Interest in medical leadership, mentorship, and hospital development
Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care
Open to both emerging leaders and experienced Medical Directors
Compensation & Benefits
Salary ranging from $160,000 to $195,000 depending on role
Sign-on, retention, and relocation packages up to $75,000
