Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient exams, diagnostics, and medical work-ups

  • Provide surgical and dental care to small animal patients

  • Educate clients and clearly communicate treatment options and outcomes

  • Maintain complete and accurate medical records

  • Prescribe medications and manage controlled substances in compliance with regulations

  • Lead and uphold medical protocols and standards of care

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership on priorities, workflows, and performance goals

  • Monitor hospitalized cases and participate in daily rounds when possible

  • Promote teamwork, efficiency, and a positive hospital culture

  • Support medical training, mentorship, and continuing education initiatives

Candidate Profile

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) from an accredited institution

  • Active or eligible Alabama veterinary license

  • DEA registration (or ability to obtain)

  • 1+ years of clinical veterinary experience (leadership experience welcomed but not required)

  • Strong medical, surgical, and diagnostic skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities

  • Interest in medical leadership, mentorship, and hospital development

  • Commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care

  • Open to both emerging leaders and experienced Medical Directors

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary ranging from $160,000 to $195,000 depending on role

  • Sign-on, retention, and relocation packages up to $75,000
