Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced emergency and critical care across multiple species

  • Triage, stabilize, and manage critically ill or injured patients

  • Perform diagnostics, medical procedures, and critical care interventions

  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with clients, referring veterinarians, and team members

  • Mentor and guide veterinary technicians, assistants, and other clinicians

  • Participate in teaching opportunities for veterinary students and junior clinicians

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance initiatives

  • Uphold hospital protocols, safety standards, and Fear-Free patient care principles

Candidate Profile

  • DVM or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school

  • Board-Certified or Residency-Trained in Critical Care (DACVECC preferred)

  • Licensed or license-eligible in California

  • DEA registration or ability to obtain

  • Strong clinical expertise in cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, orthopedic, and critical care

  • Leadership and mentoring experience with technicians/assistants

  • Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and professionalism

  • Physically able to perform patient handling and emergency procedures

  • Commitment to continuous learning, teaching, and high standards of medicine
