A highly respected 24/7 emergency and specialty referral hospital in Fairfield, California is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon (DACVS or residency-trained/practice-limited) to join their expanding surgical team.
This is a rare opportunity to practice advanced soft tissue and/or orthopedic surgery in a referral environment that prioritizes work–life balance, including no on-call requirements. Emergency clinicians manage routine emergency procedures, allowing surgeons to focus on specialty caseloads.

The hospital is entering an exciting growth phase, including a new facility expansion with additional specialties launching in 2026. Surgeons will have the opportunity to help design and build the operating room, including input on equipment selection, surgical workflows, and department development.
The facility offers advanced diagnostic support, including on-site CT and endoscopy, ensuring surgeons are fully supported in complex cases.

Responsibilities
Perform advanced soft tissue and/or orthopedic surgical procedures
Manage complex referral surgical cases from consultation through recovery
Collaborate closely with emergency clinicians and specialty colleagues
Contribute to surgical service development, protocols, and workflows
Communicate clearly with referring veterinarians and pet owners
Maintain thorough and accurate medical records
Uphold the highest standards of patient care and clinical excellence
Candidate Profile
DACVS or residency-trained/practice-limited Veterinary Surgeon
Eligible for California veterinary licensure
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Interest in shaping and growing a surgical department
Commitment to high-quality medicine and continued professional development
