A well-equipped emergency and critical care hospital in El Dorado Hills, CA is seeking an experienced Emergency DVM to join the team on a maternity cover basis. This role focuses on high-quality emergency and critical care for small animals, with the support of a collaborative, skilled team.

Responsibilities
Provide emergency consultations, both outpatient and inpatient
Manage critical and emergency care, including diagnostic workups, treatment planning, and surgical interventions
Oversee inpatient case management and continuity of care
Deliver clear, compassionate communication to clients during high-stress situations
Collaborate with nursing and support staff to maintain patient flow and care standards
Manage a typical caseload of 4–8 outpatient ER consultations and 2–8 inpatients per shift
Candidate Profile
DVM (or equivalent), licensed or eligible to practice in California
Minimum 4 years of clinical experience; ideally 1–2 years in ER or urgent care
Strong diagnostic, surgical, and decision-making skills
Excellent teamwork, communication, and client service skills
Positive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $225,000 – $250,000 + ER bonus (unlimited earning potential, no negative accruals)
Sign-on bonus and relocation support available
$1,500 annual CE allowance + paid CE time (based on three-day work week)
