Head Veterinary Nurse – Gatley, Greater Manchester

Salary: Up to £37,000 per annum + £500 sign-on bonus
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:00am–4:30pm + 1 in 6 weekends

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Veterinary Nurse to join a well-established practice in Gatley, Stockport, Manchester. This is a fantastic role for a confident and experienced RVN looking to step into a leadership position or further develop their career in a supportive environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high standards of patient care, supporting the veterinary team, and leading the nursing function within the practice.
This position offers an excellent work-life balance with a structured weekday rota and limited weekend commitment, alongside a £500 sign-on bonus for direct applicants.

Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients at all times
Lead nurse-led consultations and perform Schedule 3 procedures
Support veterinary surgeons during consultations, surgeries, and diagnostics
Monitor patients pre- and post-operatively, including admissions and discharges
Provide exceptional client care and communication
Take responsibility for clinical leadership and development of the nursing team
Ensure compliance with all RCVS, regulatory, and operational standards
Candidate Profile
RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse
Previous experience in a senior or leadership nursing role (preferred)
Strong clinical skills with a passion for patient and client care
Confident communicator with the ability to lead, mentor, and inspire a team
Organised, proactive, and committed to maintaining high clinical standards
Compensation & Benefits
