A busy emergency veterinary hospital in Maple Grove, Minnesota is seeking a Lead Emergency Veterinarian to join their team. In this role, you will provide expert emergency care to companion animals while guiding and supporting fellow doctors. This position is ideal for veterinarians with 2+ years of ER experience who are ready to step into leadership while continuing to practice hands-on emergency medicine.

​Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care during ER shifts, diagnosing and treating emergency cases (including critical cases and exotics)

  • Answer medical questions and provide guidance to clients over the phone

  • Coach and mentor fellow veterinarians on clinical excellence and the hospital’s customer-focused approach

  • Lead monthly doctor meetings, M&M rounds, and training programs for new ER doctors

  • Assist or act as interim Medical Director when needed

  • Manage doctor schedules, leave requests, and ensure adequate coverage

  • Address client concerns related to medical care

  • Support hospital revenue production and customer satisfaction through effective clinical decision-making

​Candidate Profile

  • DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree

  • 2+ years of emergency medicine experience, including critical case management

  • Leadership experience preferred but not required

  • Training in emergency surgery/endoscopy a plus

  • Comfortable working nights, weekends, and holidays on rotation

  • Empathetic, people-centric approach with a strong sense of ownership

  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
