About the Opportunity
Are you a veterinarian ready to step into a leadership role? An established, community-focused small animal hospital in Washington, DC is seeking a Medical Director to lead its dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to shape the clinical and cultural direction of a respected hospital while maintaining a healthy 3–4 day work week that supports work-life balance.
The incoming Medical Director will partner with an experienced Practice Manager and support team, ensuring the hospital continues to deliver exceptional patient care while also thriving operationally.
Key Responsibilities
Lead clinical operations and provide mentorship to the veterinary team
Uphold and enhance standards of care through collaboration and clinical oversight
Partner with the Practice Manager to drive hospital growth and efficiency
Foster strong client relationships and community engagement
Balance leadership with clinical duties (schedule tailored accordingly)
Ideal Candidate Profile
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD or equivalent)
Licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in Washington, DC
Previous leadership or management experience preferred (but not required)
Strong clinical skills in small animal medicine and surgery
Collaborative, approachable leadership style with a passion for team development
Commitment to community involvement and client care
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $170k–$190k
