Salary: £31,000 – £40,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
About the Role
We’re representing a highly regarded accountancy and business advisory firm with a strong presence across the North East. They are seeking an AAT Accounts Senior to join their Durham office, working with a diverse portfolio of innovative and fast-growing businesses. Reporting to a Manager, you will be involved in the delivery of accounts preparation, tax computations, and client support, while utilising modern cloud accounting technology to enhance efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare accounts for a wide range of owner-managed businesses using software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks Online

Draft corporation tax computations and action manager queries on accounts and tax returns

Finalise accounts and tax computations following client review meetings

Act as a first point of contact for clients on ad hoc queries

Provide training, guidance, and support to junior team members

Suggest and contribute to process improvements across the department and wider firm

Attend client premises across the North East and Yorkshire as required
Ideal Candidate Profile

AAT Level 4 qualified

Proven experience in preparing accounts for small to medium owner-managed businesses, including statutory financial statements

Recent practice background with exposure to both accounts and tax

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with confidence in client-facing situations

High level of IT literacy, including strong Excel skills and knowledge of accounting software packages (Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, IRIS preferred)

Strong attention to detail with the ability to review work accurately

Proactive problem-solver, demonstrating initiative and responsibility

Flexibility to travel to client premises as required
