About the Role

We’re representing a well-established professional services firm with a strong and growing Accounts & Business Advisory function. Due to continued expansion, they are seeking an Accounts & Business Advisory Assistant Manager to join their Edinburgh team. This is a client-facing role offering responsibility for portfolio management, team development, and delivering high-quality advisory-led services, with clear progression toward Manager level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day client relationships, identifying when to escalate issues and when to proactively deliver solutions.

  • Oversee and manage a client portfolio, including the review of statutory financial statements and management accounts.

  • Interpret financial statements and clearly summarise key insights and commercial implications for clients.

  • Coach, supervise, and develop Associates and Senior Associates within the team.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to deliver additional value and advisory services to clients.

  • Review client work to ensure consistently high technical standards and compliance with internal processes.

  • Provide clear guidance on medium-complexity technical matters.

  • Drive collaboration and engagement across the wider Accounts & Business Advisory team.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ACA / ACCA / CA qualified, or qualified by experience.

  • Proven experience within an accountancy practice, ideally in accounts and business advisory.

  • Ability to work autonomously across most areas of client work.

  • Strong technical knowledge of statutory accounts and management accounts.

  • Experience supervising and developing junior team members.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.

  • Growth mindset with a continuous desire to learn and improve.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
