Accounts and Outsourcing Manager – York | £48,000 – £55,000 | Full-Time (Part-Time Considered)

Our client is seeking an experienced Accounts and Outsourcing Manager to join their York team. This role combines client-facing accounting work, team leadership, and practice management responsibilities. You will work with a variety of clients, including incorporated businesses, while supporting and mentoring your team to deliver exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, primarily incorporated businesses (experience with unincorporated clients is advantageous)

  • Take responsibility for all compliance matters: annual accounts, corporation tax returns, and personal tax planning for individuals

  • Maintain WIP and manage team KPIs

  • Review team members’ work and provide mentoring and training

  • Act as the main relationship contact for clients

  • Promote the Accounts & Outsourcing team internally and externally

  • Plan and organise workflow within the department

  • Identify cross-servicing and business development opportunities

  • Support practice and workflow management for the wider team

Person Specification

  • ACA or ACCA fully qualified

  • Solid accounting experience gained in a practice environment

  • Knowledge of accounts preparation for incorporated and unincorporated clients

  • Experience working with IRIS, Xero, or Sage preferred but not essential

  • Strong management, communication, and organisational skills

  • Proven experience managing workflow in a practice environment

  • Confident working independently while also being a team player

  • Excellent time management and ability to work under pressure

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word, with advanced Excel skills
