A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Manager to join a well-established, reputable accountancy practice in the Oswestry area of Shropshire. This role is ideal for a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA) or someone qualified by experience looking for greater responsibility, autonomy, and client engagement.
The successful candidate will have the drive and enthusiasm to support clients in achieving their personal and business objectives while leading a portfolio and supporting trainee development.
Role Overview
As a senior member of the accounts team, you will:
Manage your own portfolio of clients
Review accounts prepared by junior team members
Deliver high-quality accounts and tax compliance services
Mentor and supervise trainees
Build long-lasting client relationships and provide advisory support
This is an excellent position for someone who thrives in a collaborative practice environment and enjoys a mix of compliance, review work, and client communication.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a diverse client portfolio and monitor work in progress
Review accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, and charities
Prepare and/or review tax computations, self-assessment returns, corporation tax returns, and CGT submissions
Liaise directly with clients, discussing accounts and tax matters
Assist with tax planning opportunities
Supervise and mentor trainees, reviewing their work and helping them develop
Oversee client billing and ensure timely delivery of all assignments
Maintain strong attention to detail and meet deadlines consistently
Candidate Requirements
ACA/ACCA qualified OR qualified by experience
Minimum of two years at manager level within an accountancy practice
Good working knowledge of income tax, corporation tax, and capital gains tax
Experience reviewing accounts across a wide variety of business sectors
Strong communication and relationship-management skills
Ability to multitask, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Full UK driving licence
