Accounts Senior – Cumbria | £32,000–£40,000 (DOE)

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice in Cumbria, is seeking an Accounts Senior to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a varied client-facing role with genuine scope for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

The Accounts Senior will:

  • Prepare and complete financial statements for a range of business enterprises

  • Prepare and review corporation tax computations and returns

  • Manage workflow, budgets, and deadlines to ensure timely delivery of services

  • Work proactively with clients to resolve queries ahead of meetings

  • Liaise with colleagues across personal tax, payroll, VAT, and financial services teams to ensure joined-up advice

  • Build strong professional relationships with clients and their bookkeepers/financial controllers

  • Use accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Digita, and Virtual Cabinet

  • Support and mentor junior team members, assisting with their training and development

  • Take ownership of tasks, ensuring high-quality work with minimal review adjustments

Candidate Requirements

  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or qualified by experience

  • Strong technical knowledge of accounts and corporation tax

  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage own workload effectively

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • Team player with the ability to support and mentor others

  • Comfortable working with a variety of accounting software packages

  • Location: Cumbria (commutable from Carlisle, Penrith, and surrounding areas)

  • Contract: Full-time, permanent

  • Salary: £32,000 – £40,000 per year (DOE)
