Accounts Supervisor – Role Overview
The Accounts Supervisor position combines client management responsibilities with technical accounting oversight. The successful candidate will manage their own client portfolio while supporting managers and partners on more complex assignments.
Key responsibilities include:
Acting as the principal contact for a portfolio of clients
Building long-term, trusted client relationships
Preparing statutory accounts and year-end financial statements
Producing management accounts, VAT returns, and cash flow forecasts
Supporting managers with complex accounts work and ad hoc projects
Interpreting financial data to provide practical, value-added advice
Promoting and developing Xero and cloud-based accounting solutions
Assisting with the training and development of junior team members
Required Experience and Qualifications
To be considered for this Accounts Supervisor job in Chester, candidates must have:
AAT qualification or be qualified by experience
Strong experience within a UK accountancy practice
Proven background in:
Statutory and management accounts
VAT returns and bookkeeping
Client-facing accounting roles
Experience using Xero, Sage, and cloud accounting software
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently while contributing to team-led projects
