About the Role
We’re representing a well-established and growing independent accountancy firm based in Edinburgh, known for its strong client relationships and people-first culture. Due to continued growth within their Business Support Services team, they are seeking an Accounts Supervisor to manage a varied SME client portfolio while supporting and developing junior team members. This is an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified accountant looking to step into a supervisory, client-facing role with long-term progression.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a small portfolio of SME clients, delivering a proactive and client-focused service.

Maintain regular client contact, acting as a trusted day-to-day advisor.

Prepare statutory accounts for Limited Companies, LLPs, partnerships, and sole traders.

Prepare management accounts and draft personal and corporation tax computations.

Review work prepared by colleagues and students, providing constructive feedback.

Train, supervise, and support junior team members and trainees.

Assist Assistant Managers with ad hoc client and departmental tasks.

Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax legislation.

Communicate effectively with clients and HMRC, both orally and in writing.
(Aim: clear supervisory responsibility combined with strong hands-on technical delivery.)
Ideal Candidate Profile

ACA / ACCA / ICAS / ICAEW qualified with 1–2 years post-qualification experience in practice.

Strong experience preparing FRS 102 and FRS 102 1A accounts.

Confident working directly with clients across a range of sectors.

High attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills.

Ability to manage workload independently while meeting deadlines and budgets.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong IT skills with the ability to retain and apply technical knowledge.
