An established and highly regarded accountancy and advisory firm in Stockton-on-Tees is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its growing team. Key Responsibilities:
Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts
Post journals including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
Reconcile bank, petty cash, intercompany and general ledger accounts
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Maintain fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
Support internal and external audits
Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Liaise with clients and internal teams to resolve queries
Contribute to process improvements and procedural documentation
Support ad-hoc finance and accounting projects as required
Candidate Profile:
AAT qualified or part-qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA
1–3 years’ experience in a similar finance or accountancy role
Strong Excel skills and experience with cloud accounting software (Xero, Sage etc.)
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Strong communication skills and a collaborative team approach
Proactive, motivated and keen to develop professionally
