Audit & Accounts Trainee/Semi Senior
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Salary: £25,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
Contract: Full Time, Office Based
A local accountancy practice in Cambridge is seeking an Audit & Accounts Trainee or Semi Senior to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious candidate to gain hands-on experience across audit, accounts preparation, bookkeeping, and tax compliance, with the potential for professional qualification support.
The Role of Audit & Accounts Trainee / Semi Senior
As part of the team, you will work closely with senior colleagues to deliver high-quality financial services to a diverse range of clients, including owner-managed businesses, SMEs, and larger organisations.
Your responsibilities will include:

Assisting in audit engagements from planning to completion, including on-site client work.

Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.

Supporting bookkeeping, VAT return preparation, and payroll processing.

Preparing and submitting personal and corporation tax returns under supervision.

Liaising with clients to collect information and resolve queries efficiently.

Maintaining accurate records and supporting the preparation of audit documentation.

Supporting junior team members and learning from experienced colleagues.

Ensuring compliance with professional standards and internal policies.
About You
The ideal candidate will be:

Part-qualified ACA/ACCA or working towards professional accountancy qualifications, or a strong trainee looking to start their career in audit and accounts.

Experienced in a practice environment or keen to develop skills in audit and accounts.

Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Confident using cloud-based accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.

A strong communicator with a professional and client-focused approach.

Eager to learn and grow within a supportive and collaborative team.
