Hours: Full-Time (35 hours per week)

About the Role

A growing accountancy and audit practice in Wakefield is seeking an Audit Semi-Senior to join their audit team.

You will carry out audits using a bespoke, risk-based approach, managing audits for smaller clients independently, and assisting in larger audits under the supervision of the Audit Senior Manager. You will also support and supervise junior team members while maintaining strong client relationships.

Please note: some audits may require occasional travel or overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform audits using a risk-based audit methodology

  • Complete audit file sections as agreed during team briefings

  • For smaller clients, act as the audit lead, responsible for:

    • Planning and completing audit files

    • Reviewing financial statements

    • Preparing management letters and letters of representation

  • Supervise and delegate work to junior audit team members

  • Communicate with Audit Managers regularly, providing recommendations for client accounting systems and controls

  • Appraise junior team members’ work and performance

  • Ensure compliance with relevant audit laws and regulations

Skills & Experience

  • AAT qualified or studying towards ACA/ACCA (or equivalent)

  • Experience leading small audits from planning to completion

  • Able to supervise and support junior audit staff

  • Strong knowledge of relevant accounting and auditing laws and regulations

  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including telephone manner

  • Confident IT user, familiar with audit software and Excel

  • Proactive, flexible team player with a willingness to learn
