About the Role
A leading audit practice in Wakefield is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to join their team.
You will oversee audit assignments, manage small audits independently, and supervise junior team members. This role provides opportunities to plan and complete audits from start to finish, review financial statements, prepare management letters, and provide technical guidance to clients.
Please note: occasional travel or overnight stays may be required.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out audits using a bespoke risk-based audit approach
Oversee audit assignments as directed and complete relevant audit file sections
Plan audits from start to finish, including reviewing financial statements, preparing management letters, and letters of representation
Prepare/review audit risk assessments and preliminary analytical procedures
Liaise with technical experts on areas such as tax and group auditors for reporting requirements
Recommend improvements to client accounting systems and company procedures
Supervise and delegate work to junior audit team members as appropriate
Communicate regularly with Audit Managers and provide recommendations for client process improvements
Appraise junior team members’ performance after completion of tasks
Skills & Experience
ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent), or studying at Advanced stage
Proven experience leading small audits from planning through completion
Experience supervising and mentoring junior audit staff
Strong knowledge of audit and accounting regulations and compliance requirements
Track record of building and maintaining effective client relationships
Highly organised, able to manage workload under pressure, and meet deadlines
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Confident IT user
