About the Role
A growing practice in Staverton is seeking an experienced Bookkeeping & Payroll Assistant to join their on-site team. This role is ideal for candidates with at least 3 years’ practice experience in bookkeeping or payroll.
You will be responsible for administering payroll services, day-to-day bookkeeping, VAT returns, and client account reconciliations, ensuring accurate and timely financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and submit payroll for multiple clients, from start to finish, at various frequencies
Update tax codes and manage HMRC notifications
Process statutory payments, starters, and leavers, including salary calculations
Maintain pension schemes and ensure compliance with TPR duties
Day-to-day bookkeeping and preparation of VAT returns
Reconcile bank and control accounts
Develop and maintain strong client relationships and respond to queries
Work collaboratively with the team to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work
Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping or payroll experience within a practice setting
Knowledge of Sage, Xero, and/or QuickBooks preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Outstanding communication and client relationship skills
IT literate and confident using accounting software and Microsoft Office
