The Role - Client Accounts Manager (Accountancy Practice Birmingham). Part Time up to 25 hours
As Client Accounts Manager, you will oversee the delivery, quality control, and workflow management of accounts and tax return preparation across the client portfolio.
Working closely with the practice leadership team, you will ensure work is delivered accurately, efficiently, and to the highest professional standards.
Salary: £40,000 to £55,000 FTE depending on experience
Hours: Part time position, ideally 20-25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing and reviewing of work completed by the team:

Statutory accounts
-
Corporation tax returns and personal tax returns
-
Capital Gains Tax (CGT) returns
-
ATED returns
-
CT61 returns
-

Ensure compliance with UK accounting and tax regulations
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex queries
- Managing the client portfolio and delegating work to the team

Maintain detailed review notes and documentation for quality assurance
Team Leadership & Development

Provide day-to-day leadership and mentoring to the accounts and tax delivery team

Allocate work and monitor workloads to ensure deadlines are met

Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback

Support ongoing training and development of junior team members

Lead by example in professionalism, organisation, and accountability
Workflow & Operational Management

Manage end-to-end workflow for accounts and tax compliance

Liaise with clients to request records and provide support
-
Monitor job progress, deadlines, and team capacity
-
Identify potential delivery risks or bottlenecks early
-
Support improvements to internal processes, systems, and templates
-
Work closely with senior leadership to ensure consistent client delivery
About You - Client Accounts Manager Birmingham
The successful candidate will be a qualified practice accountant with strong leadership experience and a passion for delivering high-quality client work.

ACA or ACCA qualification

At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in accountancy practice

Proven experience managing accounts and tax compliance delivery

Strong experience reviewing statutory accounts and tax returns

Previous experience leading or mentoring a team

Excellent organisational and workflow management skills

Strong communication skills and confidence dealing directly with clients

A proactive and detail-focused approach
