Senior Accountant / Client Manager
Location: Walsall, West Midlands
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
Contract: Full Time, Office Based
A local accountancy practice in Walsall is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Client Manager to join its senior team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys managing client relationships, reviewing work prepared by junior staff, and providing high-quality advisory support to owner-managed businesses and individuals.
The role offers autonomy, responsibility, and the chance to play a key role in the continued development of the practice.
The Role
As Senior Accountant / Client Manager, you will take ownership of a varied client portfolio while acting as the main point of contact for your clients. You will review accounts prepared by junior team members and ensure work is delivered to a high technical standard.
Key Responsibilities

Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses and private clients

Reviewing statutory accounts prepared by junior and semi-senior staff

Providing guidance and mentoring to junior team members

Review of management accounts

Reviewing VAT returns and bookkeeping where required

Reviewing and assisting with personal and corporation tax returns

Advising clients on business and personal tax matters

Handling client queries and building long-term client relationships

Liaising directly with partners on workflow, deadlines and client matters
About You

ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)

Strong background in general practice

Experience reviewing accounts and supervising junior staff

Good working knowledge of business and personal tax

Confident dealing directly with clients and providing practical advice

Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines

Proactive, commercially aware and client-focused
