Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Manager or ambitious Assistant Manager to join its Corporate Tax team in Manchester. This client-facing position offers an opportunity to lead both compliance and advisory engagements across a diverse portfolio, guiding clients through complex tax issues while mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to the firm’s high standards of service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the delivery of corporate tax compliance and advisory services across a varied client portfolio.

  • Review corporation tax computations and returns, ensuring technical accuracy and timely submission in line with HMRC requirements.

  • Provide proactive and relevant tax advice on areas such as group relief, capital allowances, loss utilisation, and restructuring.

  • Mentor and support junior team members to ensure quality outputs and professional growth.

  • Liaise with HMRC to manage enquiries and correspondence effectively.

  • Identify and develop opportunities for tax planning and value-added services.

  • Record chargeable time accurately and ensure optimal recovery of billable hours.

  • Plan and manage workload efficiently to meet both client expectations and internal review schedules.

Key Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (CTA desirable or working towards).

  • Strong technical knowledge of corporate tax legislation and compliance processes.

  • Proven experience in client management and delivery of tax advisory engagements.

Additional Requirements

  • A collaborative approach with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritise multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant tax software.

  • High standards of confidentiality, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience managing corporate tax engagements within a professional practice environment.

  • Strong technical understanding of UK corporate tax legislation and HMRC processes.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Commercial awareness and the ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities for clients.

  • Organised, proactive, and capable of managing competing priorities with precision.
