Assistant/Junior Accountant

Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for various clients, including Limited Companies, Sole Traders, and Partnerships.
- Perform bookkeeping tasks and support the preparation of personal tax returns.
- Manage wages journals and liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients.
- Engage in manual and online bookkeeping, progressing to payroll responsibilities.
- Prepare accounts and tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Provide support to clients via email, calls, and meetings regarding compliance and software use.
- Collaborate with the team to identify opportunities for business improvements and efficiencies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the effective running of the accounts function, identifying areas for improvement.
- Enhance competence in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and supporting applications.
- Promote the firm's services and ethos to clients and the wider community.
- Stay updated on industry practices and business developments.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to further professional development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- AAT qualification is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero.
- Experience in financial accounting and reporting.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify trends or issues.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
