Payroll Assistant – Liverpool | Salary £25,000–£27,000
Salary: £25,000–£27,000 (dependent on experience)
Hours: 35 per week, 9:00am–5:00pm, Monday to Friday
Location: Liverpool Office
Annual Leave: 20 days plus bank holidays

Key Responsibilities
-
Process weekly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients across various sectors
-
Maintain payroll records including new starters, leavers, and contractual changes
-
Calculate statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), holiday pay, and pension contributions

Submit Real Time Information (RTI) to HMRC and ensure PAYE/NIC compliance
-
Prepare and distribute payslips, P45s, P60s, and other payroll documentation
-
Respond to payroll queries from clients and internal colleagues professionally

Assist the Payroll Manager with reporting, compliance tasks, and ad hoc projects

Support auto-enrolment and pension administration
-
Contribute to year-end payroll processes and meet deadlines

Perform general administrative duties and stay updated on UK payroll legislation
Essential Skills & Experience

1–2 years’ experience in a payroll bureau or multi-client payroll environment

Knowledge of statutory and legislative payroll regulations
-
Proficient in payroll software (e.g., BrightPay) and Microsoft Excel
-
Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Excellent organisational and time management skills

Professional communication skills with a client-focused approach

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive information
